Description
Astrogation covers the ability to plot and calculate safe hyperspace jumps. It's the skill a navigator or pilot uses to chart a course through hyperspace, cross-reference stellar charts, and avoid navigational hazards like gravity wells, uncharted systems, or unstable regions of space.
Common Uses
- Plotting a hyperspace jump to a known or unknown system
- Calculating a faster-than-normal route (with added risk)
- Recognizing navigational hazards before a jump
- Piecing together partial or corrupted navigational data
Notes
Astrogation checks are usually made before a jump to hyperspace; failures can result in delays, being pulled out of hyperspace early, or worse.
