Overview
Formos is a backwater Outer Rim world that owes its notoriety entirely to its location: it sits at the junction of the Pabol Sleheyron and Triellus Trade Route hyperlanes, barely nine hours out from Kessel by the Kessel Run spur. That proximity has made it a waypoint for spice moving off Kessel and a magnet for the smugglers, spacers, and scoundrels who move it.
Someone stole my glitterstim! No wonder nobody comes here unless they're fueling up for the Kessel run -- Renzolax
Climate
- Arid world with lakes and salt flats.
- Dry and warm year round.
- Occasional dust storms drive citizens inside for days at a time.
Politics
- No strong central government; real authority rests with the smugglers, spice runners, and fences who work the planet.
- Imperial presence is limited to a garrison stationed near Formos Spaceport, tasked with rounding up criminals and shipping them off to the Kessel spice mines.
- The spaceport itself is rundown and does little to attract legitimate traffic — it exists mainly to service the spice trade.
- Local order, such as it is, is kept through bribery, reputation, and the occasional Imperial sweep.
